What kinds of computers/electronics does We Care Tucson take?

WCT accepts all electronics in any condition with the exception of TVs and CRT monitors. This includes computers and peripherals (e.g. laptops, routers, keyboards, etc.) as well as other office or household electronics (e.g. fax machines, stereos, VHS players, etc.).

What does We Care Tucson do with the computers that are donated?

Depending on the age and condition of the computers, they are either refurbished or recycled. Refurbished computers are provided to financially challenged students and job-seeking adults at low or no cost. Some computers are sold to help provide support for our programs. Desktops that cannot be rebuilt are disassembled and parts that are salvageable are reused, e.g., hard drives, RAM, graphics cards, etc. The profits from the sale of the computers and other electronics that are donated to us allow We Care Tucson’s programs, including our free medical equipment loaner bank, to continue operating.

Does We Care Tucson buy computers or accept computers/electronics for store credit?

No, we cannot purchase computers or give store credit.

Does We Care Tucson pick up computers/electronics?

Yes, if it is a large quantity of items. We regularly pick up computers (and other electronics) from businesses. Please feel free to call or email us to inquire about possible pickups.

Is the hard drive erased on my donated computer?

Yes, we do clean the hard drives. We Care Tucson can provide a certificate of data destruction once the data on the hard drive has been erased. You are welcome to wait on site until the process is completed or we can send you a copy of the certificate.

What types of medical equipment is WCT interested in receiving as donations?

We can take most types of durable medical equipment. Our most requested items include wheelchairs, walkers, canes, shower chairs, tub transfer benches, and knee scooters.

Does We Care Tucson pick up medical equipment?

Generally we do not unless it is a large quantity. Donations of medical equipment and/or supplies need to be dropped off at our donation location during our hours of operation, Tueday - Friday, 10 AM until 4 PM and Saturday from Noon until 4 PM.

Does We Care Tucson take car donations?

Yes, we accept car donations. Please visit https://careasy.org/nonprofit/we-care-tucson to begin the process. You can avoid the time, trouble and cost associated with selling your car. All the work is done for you.

Does the car have to be in running condition?

No, your car does not have to be in running condition but it does need to have a motor and be towable. Any condition and almost any type of motorized vehicle is accepted.

Can I donate by check or with a credit card?

Yes, we can take both checks and credit cards. Donations by check can be mailed to us or dropped off at our office. Credit or debit card donations can be made on-line through the website or by calling us directly.

Can I make a recurring donation?

Yes, you can absolutely make a recurring donation. You can set it up yourself on-line through our webpage. You can also stop by or call us and we will direct your call to someone that can help you.

Can I make an anonymous donation without being added to an email or postal mailing list?

Yes, just let us know that you would prefer your donation to remain anonymous.

Is a donation to We Care Tucson tax deductible?

We Care Tucson is a 501(c)3, which means that your donation may reduce your taxable income when taxes are itemized. We are also a certified QCO, which makes you eligible for a dollar for dollar tax credit in the State of Arizona.

Do I get a tax receipt? If so, for what amount?

We can give you a donation receipt for tax purposes, but we cannot legally assign a dollar value to the items donated.

We Care Tucson is a certified Qualified Charitable Organization (QCO). What does that mean to me?

This means that donors can get a 1:1 dollar reduction on their tax liability. Just fill out Form 321 when you file your taxes. Our QCO code is 22087. More information is available on our QCO information page.

What types of recyclable items does We Care Tucson accept?

We Care Tucson accepts scrap metal, old appliances, electronics and wire. We do not accept CRTs or TVs.

Does We Care Tucson pick up recyclable items?

No, We Care Tucson is unable to do pickups for recyclables. You would need to drop them at our office during our hours of operation, Tuesday through Friday from 10 AM to 4 PM and Saturday from Noon to 4 PM.

With whom do you share my information?

We do not share your personal information with any other entity ever.

Can I dedicate my donation to a particular recipient or use?

A cash donation can be directed to pay for a particular item, for example, to pay for a low-cost computer for a student. A material donation, such as a donated computer, cannot be earmarked for a particular person or group.
