Join We Care Tucson for Giving Tuesday 2024! Celebrated on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, Giving Tuesday is a global day of generosity that inspires individuals to give back and make a difference in their communities. This year, our campaign is dedicated to funding We Care Tucson’s Youth Initiative Programs, which bridge the digital divide and empower underserved youth in Southern Arizona through innovative technology education, access to affordable computers, and engaging community events. Together, we can create opportunities that transform lives—your generosity makes it all possible!
Our Youth Initiative Programs are designed to empower the next generation with the skills and resources they need to thrive in a digital world. A cornerstone of these initiatives is our successful Youth Tech Camp. The heartbeat of this program lies in its meticulously crafted curriculum, a journey through the fundamental realms of computer technology. From unraveling the mysteries of computer components to the hands-on mastery of rebuilding and repairing desktop computers, our camp participants will embark on an exhilarating exploration of operating systems, e-recycling awareness, and a captivating introduction to diverse careers in the technology field.

However, we go beyond the classroom by integrating engaging activities and thoughtfully curated field trips to local businesses entrenched in these dynamic industries. Picture our participants stepping into the real-world settings of technology companies, absorbing firsthand knowledge from the experts shaping the future. These transformative experiences will enrich their understanding and serve as a beacon, guiding them toward potential career paths. Best of all, it's all free! We believe in breaking down barriers to education, providing snacks, lunch, and even a laptop at the end of the week. It's a camp that's not just fun—it's a game-changer for their future!
.
Another exciting aspect of our Youth Initiative and a sub-component of our Youth Tech Camp is our school day-out programs, scheduled throughout the 2024-2025 school year. These programs, offered in addition to our Youth Tech Camp, are designed to provide enriching, hands-on learning experiences during school breaks.
In both the week-long and one-day camp programs, students will have the opportunity to construct desktop computers from spare parts and refurbish laptops to keep as their own. This not only enhances their technical skills but also reinforces the principles of recycling and sustainability as they learn to give new life to old technology.

Additional Technology Programs

Student Tech Connection: This program is designed to be inclusive. It provides low-cost laptops to students from elementary through high school by presenting their student ID, eliminating the need for an organization's referral. We make sure that every student, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to access technology. By equipping young people with the knowledge and tools to navigate the digital landscape, we are opening doors to education, career opportunities, and personal growth.
Free Basic Computer and Mobile Phone Classes. These classes are accessible to everyone in the community, providing essential skills in operating computers and mobile devices and ensuring that individuals of all ages and backgrounds can stay connected in today’s digital world. Our We Care Repair service also offers low-cost computer repair, making technology maintenance affordable for those in need. By addressing education and access to affordable repairs, these programs empower individuals to fully participate in the digital age, furthering our commitment to fostering digital inclusion in Southern Arizona.
